PHYSICAL TOUCH

“Belief that the body is made for touching.” - Gary Chapman

If you speak love through physical touch, any physical contact brings you a sense of energy. The physical contact doesn’t have to happen for a long time, it could just be a couple seconds, but with the act of touches you feel an absorbency of love and respect. Prolonged experiences without touch may drive people who speak physical touch to feel abandoned or invisible to the people they love though.

The time in which touch is applied is very important as it implies different meanings. Adjusting to the appropriate times to touch may take time, but understanding this concept is crucial in loving. For instance, it is important to understand that you should being holding someone who speaks physical touch in a crisis to communicate your love to them, as the failure to do so may result in an unforgivable resentment since feeling unloved in their time of pain.

Signs that this is your love language: Would you describe yourself as a big hugger with friends, family, and lovers? Do you feel the need to be held or hold others when you’re scared? Do you feel a calming sense when someone touches you in acts of love? If yes, then physical touch is probably a language of love you speak!
